I'm pretty sure Cape Mendocino is also the most western point of the lower 48 states!

Hmmm...I think that distinction might go to Cape Alava in Washington. It sounds like Cape Flattery (WA) and Cape Blanco (OR) are also very close (longitudinally) to the westernmost point.

A fun geography lesson!
